If it wasn't for Virgil and cuddling, Richie would have given up being Gear a long time ago.
02) Kiss
Their first kiss was sloppy and messy and wet, and if it had been anyone other than Virgil, it would not have lead to another one.

Virgil looks like he is carved from marble, all hard muscles and sharp angles, but Richie knows from experience that he could put a teddy bear to shame.

Every time Richie gets hurts as Gear, Virgil hates himself just a little bit more.

Virgil’s favorite food is mashed potatoes, and it’s their anniversary, so he doesn’t have to ask why there are potato peels on the ceiling.

Before, when the pitter patter of rain greeted his ears, Virgil would sulk and whine and mope around; now, though, he just pulls Richie into his lap and kisses him.

Virgil can make fun of Sharon's cooking as much as he wants, but really, he can't cook either; a fact Richie learned when he walked into the kitchen and found Virgil, covered in brown goop and standing over a stove, holding what he guessed was supposed to be a chocolate cake.

Frieda was the first to show up at school with a cell phone and by the end of the week, everyone had one except Virgil and Richie, who laughed and, once in the safe confines of the gas station, deemed their Shock-Voxes superior.

It was stupid, he knows, to say that he regretted it, because he didn't... or well, not that it happened, but how it happened because he wanted their first time to be special, romantic, not rushed and on the gas station couch, for heavens sake, but he can't seem to get that point across because he's trying to hold onto Richie's wrist and tripping over the blanket, and he doesn't know what to do to make Richie stay until it just slips out of his mouth -I love you-, and it's okay that Richie kisses him and doesn't give him anytime to think about it, 'cause he knows it's true.

It isn't a secret, except to Virgil and Richie; the stolen glances, lingering touches, and shy smiles make it pretty obvious, but everyone just keeps their mouths shut and waits patiently (or not so patiently, in some cases) for them to figure it out.

Hotstreak could hand their asses to them on a silver platter, if he wanted too; but he doesn't, because it would mean exploiting their biggest weakness, each other, and he isn't willing to go that far for a petty rivalry.
